FAQs
I completed a BA Hons degree in Fashion Design at the University of Westminster in London. Clothing design was my first love, but I always enjoyed drawing the clothes more than making them so after many years in the clothing industry I decided to focus on fashion illustration. I think my in-depth knowledge of clothing design and garment construction really informs my illustrative work.
I work by hand in pencil, then pen and ink. I apply colour with water colour.
I use mechanical pencils, regular pencils and black pigment fine liner and brush pens to get the linework down onto the page. I use Windsor and Newton watercolour paints and brushes. I use hot press watercolour paper or multi media paper.
My style is lively, whimsical, full of movement, and very colourful. I like to use strong narratives in my work and I like to inject a sense of humour.
Inspiration can come from anywhere. I find inspiration in movies, books, costumes, magazines, art, and fashion photography and I love looking at other fashion illustrators. I like to look mainly to the 20th century for inspiration and give things a modern twist. I enjoy the work of Jason Brooks, Rene Gruau, David Downton and Antonio Lopez amongst others.
I am available for live illustration events and most of these tend to take place in London. I have worked as a live illustrator mainly in London since 2015 and have illustrated at product launches, PR events, weddings and influencer events. I am also available to work as a live illustrator in other areas of the UK. Please contact my agent Illustration X for any live illustration enquiries.
I have worked in the USA for companies such as Nordstrom and Tommy Bahama, and in the UK for brands such as Juicy Couture, Oasis, M and S, Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Bravissimo, Ultima, Elie Saab and Carven amongst others. I have done live illustration in Harrods, Selfridges and at The Ivy amongst many other places.
